The United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, in partnership with the Mississippi Judicial College and the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, announces the first annual “Pro Bono Work to Empower and Represent (“POWER”)” CLE conference for attorneys. The event will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 11:15 am until 1:00 pm in the Jury Assembly Room of the Thad Cochran United States Courthouse, 501 East Court Street, Jackson, Mississippi.
The event will be hosted by the U. S. District Court and moderated by U. S. Magistrate Judge Linda R. Anderson.
The event will feature a panel discussion by Jackson Metro-area Chancery Judges Cynthia L. Brewer and Denise Owens and County Court Judges Staci O’Neal and Kent McDaniel. Topics will relate to methods to promote pro bono legal services in empowering survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking and means of engaging citizens in assisting those survivors.
The conference has been approved for one (1) hour of CLE credit for attorneys.
